Oliver At 9 Years

Summer, 2001
At 9 years Oliver can -
- fasten some small buttons unaided
- put his socks on, but is not aware of where the
heel section should go
- give a short response on the telephone e.g.
“yes” or “hello” before handing over the receiver
- play alongside other children so long as they
leave him alone
- really enjoy playing in the rain or snow if
he has Wellington boots on, but cannot tolerate any water or dirt on his
school shoes or trainers
- make himself ‘at home’ in other people’s houses
if they have a computer that they are prepared to let him use. He will even explore houses in search
of computers!
- sit quietly during music shows and
concerts. He will sometimes move
to the rhythm of the music and use his hands to ‘conduct’.
- enjoy weekly swimming sessions with Dad and uses
his own stroke to move through the water.
He can also float vertically without moving!

Oliver gets his first swimming award
For the
