At 8 years Oliver can -
- install his own CD-roms onto the computer
- adjust monitor/display settings if required to
help software to run
- attempt to put on some clothes himself
- enjoy dressing-up games
- remember dates and events of significance to him
e.g. theatre trips, holidays, birthdays
- display some hand/eye co-ordination. He will now track a large ball and try
to hit it using a tennis racket.
- appreciate that different things happen during
different times of the day
- listen to story tapes and follow the words in
the books
- visit new places with less anxiety when given
advanced warning and explanation
- follow simple step-by-step instructions to order
to draw a picture. The picture of Winnie
the Pooh in Oliver’s Art Gallery is an example
of this.
- help Mum in the kitchen and will taste the
things he has made
